About us

Karate is about far more than kicking and punching.

Learning karate is a way to develop physical fitness and improve emotional wellbeing. There is a perception that karate is violent, and the main focus is breaking bricks. This is not the case. Karate is a way to bring the mind and body together to increase self-belief and improve fitness.

Karate provides its practitioners with a safe and healthy means of learning how to protect themselves. Shown to improve fitness, flexibility, agility, concentration, confidence, self-awareness as well as mental and spiritual development, Karate is a combination of kicking, punching, striking and blocking techniques developed in Japan. Karate is universally recognised as one of the most comprehensive of all the Martial Arts and is ideally suited to combat the stresses of modern living. Karate is also an exciting sport practised worldwide.

Sentenashi Karate is run without any of the petty politics found within some karate clubs and associations. Students are permitted and encouraged to train with other instructors to enhance their knowledge of karate. Guest Instructors are often invited to take special courses to give all members an opportunity to experience other schools of thought.

Karate-ka from other clubs are welcome to train within any of the association’s dojos, on special courses that are held periodically, or when guest instructors attend.

Our training revolves around both traditional and competitive Karate, self-defence and general physical conditioning. Our instructors have many years of experience in all these aspects of Karate and a passion for passing these skills on, whether you are a complete novice or have trained before.

Our group offer the first month absolutely free, allowing you to see whether Karate is suitable for you or your child before you have to spend any money.

Sentenashi Karate was founded in 1991, developed from clubs that had been training since the early 1970's and teaches authentic Japanese  styles Karate.

The Association is a member of The English Karate Federation, which in turn is affiliated to, The British Karate Federation, The European Karate Federation and The World Karate Federation.

These organisations consist of some of the major bodies who oversee the practice of Karate within the UK and indeed the world.

Sentenashi Karate coach Karate as a life skill and not just a hobby. Those who persevere in Karate will confirm that Karate is a way of life, its teachings affect you in everyday life.
