Inclusion Policy

Appealing to men, women and children, Karate really is for everyone. At Sentenashi we cater to a wide range of individuals and families, offering extensive classes for all ages and levels of ability. Our students currently range from first time beginners to experienced club instructors and competitors.

Sentenashi has successfully trained students with special needs including Autism, Asperger’s, Dyspraxia, ADHD and believe that there is no reason why Karate cannot help inspire self-esteem and confidence in everyone. S.K.A actively involve promoting disability groups to access the benefits of taking part in karate in numerous school and community-based projects using the discipline of Karate as a tool to target and rehabilitate young people at risk of exclusion and anti-social behaviour in disadvantaged areas.

Whether the disability is around movement, sensory or a learning difficulty, access to an S.K.A. club is possible, as all people are welcome within the mainstream clubs.

Karate aims to improve a persons character through physical effort and that can be done by anyone. The main purpose of karate is not about specific techniques, but rather a certain attitude to life and a conduct that fosters self improvement, perseverance, loyalty and respect. Karate  cannot be limited by anything except one’s own aspirations

All people involved in karate with S.K.A. are treated as individuals and we aim to break down the perceptions that take place in many martial arts clubs. We believe that the benefits, include self-confidence and fitness along with many others, are available to all and inclusive to everyone.

Training the mind and body is an individual process for all to work on, with the mind and body that we have.

Although generally Karate is practiced in group sessions, effort and progress are individual and whilst we encourage all our Karate students to work hard, we only expected them to work as hard as they can. There are no restricted time scales to adhere to, so if you have any kind of disability this may not necessarily mean that you cannot join our club and progress at your own pace.

Our clubs offer a range of karate classes suitable for both children and adults, for all abilities and all levels from beginners to black belts.
